Book Trailers

I've been thinking a lot about alternatives to the "stand in front of the class and present" projects, and was wondering if anybody had any experience with creating story/book trailers. I think the kids would have fun with this and it could replace the traditional book report. I've also been thinking about using it at the end of the month so students a couple of students can share a book they read on their own.

Any thoughts and/or websites that I could look at for examples? Also, any other ways I could use this? Thanks!

  1. A variation of this would be to create a glog (online poster). Try www.glogster.com

  2. I was thinking about this, too! My co-op and I are working on developing ideas for The Hunger Games. I was thinking of doing a movie trailer based solely on the back of the book. Then (considering I will not be in the classroom when they start reading it), I thought that I could save it for the end of the novel. I'm considering having them create a dramatic presentation (basically just acting it out) and I can record it with my iPad. Having them perform their "trailer" all in one shot would eliminate the need for editing. And I think that they would LOVE seeing their trailers and the trailers of their peers. I was just going to use iMovie.
